Passing Rate of MRCP(UK) PACES Exam

In the latest MRCP(UK) newsletter to collegiate examiners, it was revealed that “in the third diet of 2008 1,214 candidates sat PACES in the UK, Chennai, Dubai, Egypt, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Malaysia and Oman. The overall pass rate was 39.62% a.”

This proves the dictum which says PACES is an easy exam, yes it is easy to fail! There is no two ways about it, MRCP(UK) is an exam that you simply must work very hard for. Physicians don’t get to put those glistening MRCP tags after their names for nothing.

Seriously? I always thought that the pass rate was much higher. If you train yourself to be above 100% before the exam, at least the predicted drop in performance on the big day will be cushioned by a high baseline standard.

the exam is clearly biased towards non-white candidates…..i have sat it half a dozen times………the examiners target you……..if you re an asian/non white……….my last exam the examiner realized on my telling him that the ethics scenario was as inpatient and not outpatient which he thought it was…………he realized ..picked up the scenario …read it and then said oh you re right………..imagine even after that he started screwing me again…………….

THE EXAM SHOULD BE VIDEO TAPED (LIKE IN CSA IN USA)
IT SHOULD BE ASSESSED BY A GROUP OF EXAMINERS
    OR
THE EXAMINERS SHOULD NOT BE TOLD ABOUT THE DIAGNOSIS OF THE PATIENT
THEY SHOULD EXAMINE THE PATIENT AND WRITE DOWN THEIR DIAGNOSIS…..IT SHOULD THEN BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE PERFORMANCE OF CANDIDATES………………

BELIEVE ME 75% OF EXAMINERS WILL FAIL

    THEY ARE THAT BAD…………
