Tomorrow, we will be driving up north to the island of Penang. We are going to participate in the 2nd MRCP PACES Preparatory Course § organized by the Penang Medical College and Hospital Pulau Pinang. It’s been a very long time since we last visited the island. I am feeling excited about this trip, largely because of the prospects of indulging in some of the best street side food anywhere in Malaysia. (Writing this alone already induces a Char Koay Tuew craving, damn!)
Unfortunately we won’t have much time for sight-seeing. We are staying till Monday. The course runs throughout the weekend from 9-5pm (tiring!). Anyway, we will see what we can conjure up ad hoc. Like any adventurous traveller, I enjoy the possibility of spontaneity and serendipity. What more with a GPS unit safely installed on my automobile, we should not have any problem navigating around the island.
Out of a recommendation from Lonely Planet, we are putting up at the highly-touted Hutton Lodge in George Town for the duration of our trip (3 nights). Pop by to say hello if you happen to be around that area!
§ Perhaps the most daunting course that I will ever have to attend. I am having sleepless nights thinking about it.
Well have fun! Prep courses are very helpful…at least for the purpose of sizing up the competition!
