Thoughts on the MRCP Part II Written

The other night when I was on-call, I asked Chee what he thought of his experience during his Part 2 Written exam. To which he replied, “Super-tough.” With gravity, he disclosed that Part 2 Written questions are complicated, tortuous and for the most part impossibleto solve. “Don’t ever think just because Part 2 has a higher passing rate than Part 1, the exam is an easier nut to crack. Trust me, Part 2 will make you cry.” Chee, for the record, is a brilliant candidate. He sailed through his MRCP as if he’s done it a million times. He made it look easy.

So, you can imagine how much his words weigh when it comes to assessing the level of difficulty for this traditionally tough postgraduate diploma exam for doctors who aspire great heights in the field of internal medicine.

But then, I expected things to be singularly Herculean for MRCP. To put it another way, if Part 1 is a tiger to tame, then Part 2 Written will be the dragon to slay.

If like me, you are paranoid about the adequacy of your preparation, do not fret. At least the Royal College sees the point in setting no limit on the number of attempts allowed to pass.

The next diet is in April 2008. Good luck to all.
